Fallout: New California has been in development from seven years, amassing 16,000 lines of dialogue and a 20-30 hour campaign, by Lee’s estimation. Because of Fallout: New California’s focus on lore established in the first two games, it’s the game that many hardcore fans of the franchise wanted Fallout 3 to be.Īs fan projects go, it’s a remarkable undertaking. The second installment, which is set to release on October 23, will feature the growing New California Republic and the remnants of the Master’s super mutant army from the original Fallout.

These fans have taken to Twitter and YouTube with the hashtag #SavePlayer1, referencing a post from the official Bethesda blog in December 2017 affirming the company’s commitment to narrative single-player games in an increasingly multiplayer world. Many mods have benefitted similarly from adding LUA scripting - Garry's Mod is the prime example. Given that the original game not only had no multiplayer, but no mod tools, it's incredible what people are making within it. That's presumably what JMan100 has done in order to create this fiddly-looking build mode. You can spawn boats, planes and cars, race against your fellow players, take part in destruction derbies, or more likely, make your own fun by harrassing one another and triggering lots of explosions.Īs part of that make-your-own-fun ethos, the mod adds the ability for the savvy to create their own LUA scripts and define their own game modes. Just Cause 2 was originally a singleplayer-only game, but JC2MP allows hundreds of people to pile on a single server and play around with its physics toybox.
